A unique and exclusive competition

Marselan Selection is not just a competition between appellations and producers. Its primary purpose is to give industry specialists a reason to get together so that they can share ideas and engage with each other.

These include producers, winemakers, sommeliers, distributors and journalists or influencers from all backgrounds.

The competition is organised by the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles which handles the technical aspect of the tastings and guarantees the professionalism and independence that are the hallmarks of all major international wine competitions.

WHY MARSELAN?

Over the past few years, Marselan has gained huge traction in the international marketplace. Promoted by New World producer countries, particularly China, the varietal has established a reputation for itself as a producer of highly aromatic wines laden with supple, harmonious tannins.

Until now, there has been no dedicated competition for the grape variety – a void waiting to be filled due to sustained demand for wines that offer the perfect response to consumer needs and expectations.

Also, the international scope of the competition is essential, such is the varietal’s ability to mirror the place where it is grown. In fact, its characters vary considerably depending on weather patterns and vineyard sites. It is a variety that encapsulates both vintage variation and sense of place

The competition is designed to:

  • Promote quality Marselan wines,
  • Boost production and encourage sensible drinking of Marselan wines,
  • Introduce the public to the extensive range of wines made from this varietal.
