EXCERPTS FROM THE COMPETITION RULES
Article 1 – Organisers
Marselan Selection is jointly organised by S.A.Vinopres, rue de Mérode 60, 1060 Brussels, Belgium (website: www.concoursmondial.com), organisers of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles since 1994.
The technical aspect of the Marselan Selection tastings is entirely and independently handled by Vinopres.
Article 3 – Products eligible to compete
The competition is open, without discrimination, to all wines, special wines and mistelles made mainly from the Marselan grape variety. All these products must state their country of origin where the grapes were harvested and vinified. All these products must be available for sale in containers holding a maximum volume of TWO (02) litres. All samples must be presented in bottles with the original labelling and presentation of the vintage year marketed, unless expressly exempted.
Each sample entered must also come from a consistent batch available in quantities of at least 2,250 litres and held for consumption purposes. However, where production is particularly low for certain categories of wine, the available batch may be less than 2,250 litres but not less than 1,000 litres.
Article 7 – Inspection of entries received
1. MARSELAN SELECTION checks wine shipments received and their official accompanying documents, corrects any material errors and rejects samples that do not comply with the clauses of these rules.
2. It pays attention to the correct usage of designations of origin or geographical indications. The labelling of products produced in EU Member States must comply with Community regulations and, in the case of third countries, with current regulations in the country of production.
3. It then proceeds to allocate entries on the basis of the characteristics specified in the statements provided for under Article 4, or, where necessary, observed characteristics.
4. MARSELAN SELECTION will carry out a post-event check on medal-winning products by comparing a selection of these products with samples of the same batch purchased anonymously. A comparative analysis carried out by a COFRAC-approved laboratory will be conducted, as well as a comparative tasting by an independent selection of winemakers. In the event of disputes or proven differences, Marselan Selection reserves the right to withdraw the award obtained, to contact wine standards authorities or the equivalent national authorities and to ban the offending producers from all the competitions it organises for a period of five years.
Article 19 – General rules
The signatory of the registration form will be notified by post of the results of the products they have entered.
The results of the competition are final and without appeal.
Samples of the products entered in the competition may, at the end of the competition, be used by MARSELAN SELECTION for promotional or educational purposes. They will not be returned to the producer or trading company.
By taking part in Marselan Selection, you agree expressly and unreservedly to these rules.
In the event of a dispute related to Marselan Selection, the courts of Brussels shall have sole jurisdiction and Belgian law shall be applicable.
